Bereavement

Bereavement is the experience of losing someone important to us. It's characterised by grief, which is the process and the range of emotions we go through when we experience a loss.

Seeing it from our customer's perspective

Every person will experience loss in a different way. It’s important to remember that not everyone will want or need additional or different support.

To properly understand the support our customer may need, it's important we understand how they're affected by the situation.

You may not always know what to say when someone is experiencing loss and may be worried about saying the ‘wrong’ thing. For many people, just feeling heard and having someone acknowledge their feelings is enough.

Grief is also not a linear process that diminishes over time. Over time the feelings of grief remain the same, but that your life gradually grows around it.

A customer’s grief may still present strongly even if there has been some time since the death of their loved one.

Use IDEA to get a hetter understanding of their situation.
