Understanding Our Brain
Our brains are wired to ‘protect us’ from potential threats. Sometimes, our brains will respond to a situation with a threat response, which can lead to unhealthy thinking patterns. Situations themselves don’t bother us—it’s the meaning we give them that influences our behaviour and reactions.
The thoughts that pop into our heads are not facts, not reality, not the truth. They’re just thoughts.
But as humans, as much as our brains will have an instinctive reaction, we have the ability to choose how we react. We may not be able to change our instinctive emotions, but we can decide how to behave and how we respond.
